A brilliant memoir of a rank and file revolutionary socialist.
Frank became a follower of Trotsky as a teenager (and remains so today) in the Second World War and met partisans in Italy and Greece while serving in the British Army. In the early 1960s he travelled to revolutionary Algeria and caught a glimpse of workers control. He was also for decades a leading militant in the giant Longbridge car plant through the years of the post war boom and into the great strike movement of the early 70s. Longbridge was at the eye of the storm and Frank was witness to how that revolt was contained by the Labour Government of 1974-79 – paving the way for Margaret Thatcher.
A must read!
